5 Question Friday

It's been a while since I have participated in this, but I am back on board.
Without further ado, Happy Friday!

1. How long does your Christmas tree stay up?
No later than the day after Christmas! I almost took it down Christmas night this year because I was a little tired of constantly picking up all of the bulbs little Brighton kept pulling off.  But... I left it until Sunday then it was down for the count.

2. Do you have plans for New Year's Eve?
Yes for once... And I am pretty excited about it. (We have a baby sitter this year!) After we get the kids to bed, we are heading out for a night on the town with some friends. It's going to be freezing here, quite literally (Forecast is 10*) so our plans to go to "Eve" May not work out. Eve is an outside party event here in Utah in downtown SLC with a ton of fun events. Were still figuring out all of the plans. Very excited though!

3. Do you have any New Year's resolutions?
Way too many. I composed a list in my iPhone. Here are a few:
Get more sleep, Go to bed earlier than 3 am every night, study no less than 1-2 hours a day, keep on top of laundry, care more about myself, do more for Micah to let him know how much I really do love and appreciate him. Weight loss: Eat better... Much better, make better meal and snack choices, cut back on my diet soda and sweets, shooting for no more than 2-3 a week max, keep up in logging everything I eat and work out for at least 30 minutes/3 days a week.
Feel better, look better, be happier! This is my year.

4. How did you spend New Year's Eve when you were younger?
At home with my Mom & Dad. She would always make it so much fun! Fireworks, poppers, treats galore and the tradition of banging pots and pans! (Our neighbors just loved us, let me tell you!)

5. What was the best way you've ever spent New Year's Eve?
I have never really had a very eventful New years eve. I just enjoy being with friends and family to ring in the New Year. Looking forward to when my kiddos are older so they can stay up late to celebrate with us!
Happy 2011 everyone!

Our Christmas- 2010

What a great weekend, I can't believe it has already come and gone though! Christmas eve was spent with coffee, baking vegan cupcakes, a marathon of  A Christmas Story and a whole lot of wrapping. Micah and I have always left all of our wrapping until Christmas eve. This year we started the new tradition of baking cupcakes. I just love Christmas eve! One of the best nights of the year.
We had a very humbling Christmas this year. We kept it small and stuck to our budget (For the most part.. You know how that goes.) After all was said and done, I still think it was a little too much though. The kids got overwhelmed after the first couple of gifts. Brighton had no interest in opening any of his presents, he just wanted me to do it for him so he could play asap. Levee on the other hand had a blast opening his gifts! I love how excited he gets over the smallest of things. One of their gifts was a pack of new socks:

Levee: "WOW Mamma! New socks!?" With complete enthusiasm. It was so cute! I love how grateful and excited they are for everything at this age. (2 years 9 months) The biggest hit and their favorite gift was.... Their cute Pillow Pets:

The Bee was Brighton's and the Lady Bug was Levee's. It made my day to see their excitement to finally get their Pillow Pets! Levee has been asking for one for a while now.  And has taken it everywhere with him since he got it!

This Christmas was just awesome. I am so thankful for my Family, our health, my amazing parents, everything. I love that this time of year really reminds us how much we all really have to be thankful for. I had the opportunity to help out a Family in need here in Utah this year. My friend Anna and I made stockings for three kiddos ages 5, 3 and 2 years old along with their Uncle who is 26. Their story is heart breaking. It was so wonderful to have been able to help them out!

Our tree Christmas morning:

They loved their Christmas jammies from Grandma! I love Brighton's face in this:

Levee playing with one of Micah's gifts.. Yep. That's an Ab wheel, per his request. I spent forever looking for that thing in Target! Ended up getting the last one:

Brighton was excited for all of the wrapped gifts! Even the ones that weren't his.. Cutie.

Levee playing with his Fur Real pet. He got the Polar Bear and Brighton got the cute little Penguin.

I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas weekend! And I hope 2011 is a great year for all of us.

Finals week in Nursing school.

Today marked the first day of Finals for my 2nd quarter in Nursing school. And yes, I am pretty sure we are the only school in Utah who isn't on Christmas break yet.

Currently this is how I am feeling. I could use her Red Bull though..
Tonight I had my trigonometry/calculus final. So glad to have that one over with! I have two left, Intro to Nursing tomorrow night which happens to be the one I am most worried about. If our class doesn't finish the final with a 75% or higher we fail the whole class, even if we have an A right now and will have to retake it. To give you an idea of how hard this class is, the highest score on our mid-terms was a 60%. Hoping we all pass tomorrows final and can move onto next quarter together. My last final is in Nutrition for Nursing Thursday night, that one shouldn't be too bad, I just have to do a 3 page case study and Nursing assessment.

I went through a lot this quarter so I am thankful to be where I am right now. I have made so many great friends in my cohort. We started with 2o students and 1o students have already dropped because of the difficulty of the program. Sticking through with this until the end!
Only 7quarters left, with Graduation in September 2012.

Oh and this one too. Feeling like I've temporarily misplaced my brain. Anyone seen it anywhere?

Hope you are all having a nice Christmas week! My break starts Christmas eve, looking forward to it very much.

Little creations by The Bird & The Bee jewelry review & Giveaway

I am a huge fan of hand made items and love to support local and hand made companies whenever I get the opportunity. I recently came across a lovely shop called Little Creations by The Bird & The Bee on one of my favorite sites, Etsy. I was in search of some Harry Potter jewelry for Christmas and was beyond excited to find their shop! Their jewelry is so unique, really unlike anything you have ever seen before. Not only do they hand make Harry Potter items, but they also make items from: Alice in Wonderland, Sanrio, they have a super hero collection and much, much more. Their cupcake pendants are so unique!

At Little Creations by The Bird & The bee, you will find little creations made by us with lots & lots of love! All of the shops jewelry is hand made and the colors are so vibrant and gorgeous! Their earrings and pendants are 1/2" or less in size. (In between the size of a US Quarter & Dime.) The Pendant cords are all .5mm black stretchy cords included with metal clasps.

All of their items can be customized/altered. Everything is made to order, so if you need something done a certain way, feel free to let them know. They encourage custom orders so if you don't see what you're looking for in the shop, send them a conversation & they love to work something out for you

Not only are their items gorgeous, but their prices are great too. Especially for the hand made quality you receive with the items. Along with all of this, here are some ways they are doing their part in "Going Green" :

Cutting Back on Electricity:
-We work in natural light! During the day we use natural lighting to make your orders.
-We check orders and communicate through Etsy conversations on our phones. By not having devices plugged into the wall all the time, we cut back on the power usage daily.
-We only use the oven once a day for only 15 minute total!
 Using Recycled Goods
-Our business cards are made from paper sourced from sustainable forests.
[visit for more info]

I was lucky enough to receive two necklaces to review for Little Creations by the Bird & The Bee. I reviewed the Gryffindor scarf pendant & The Horcrux Cupcake pendant. I cannot tell you just how much I adore these necklaces. Anyone who knows me, knows that I am a Harry Potter fanatic along with a cupcake lover!

A fabulous vinyl sticker giveaway from The Old barn Rescue company!

This Giveaway has ENDED. Thank you!

I recently came across a wonderful shop on Etsy, The Old Barn Rescue Company I was lucky enough to get a hold of one of the owners about hosting a review & giveaway for them. Their vinyl quotes are all so beautiful!

Here is a little about their lovely company:
We enjoy creating "wall art" applying our own unique flair with the use of vinyl graphics and Recycled vintage materials.

In the fall of 2008, due to the popularity of Adonna’s hand-lettering, we began Old Barn Rescue Company's Wall Graphic Division here on Etsy. Wall graphics are one of the latest new trends in home d├ęcor. They look like they are painted right on the wall without the added cost of Adonna visiting your home to do it herself. Adonna has been a professional calligrapher for over 20 years and now you can enjoy her beautiful designs for a terrific price!

All of their products are just perfect for any wall in your home. Their vinyl has a matte finish and can go on any CLEAN, smooth, dry, non-porous surface (wall, glass, plastic, etc.) It is removable although not reusable.
I have always had a thing for beautiful vinyl graphics that I have seen all over my friends homes. If you are anything like me, you probably love to decorate and make your home feel like "Home sweet home" In every way possible. These days, there are so many options to make your home feel more cozy and to make it look a little more personable. What better way than with the perfect vinyl quotes/pictures?

They have beautiful sayings for your children's room, laundry room & bathroom, entry way, kitchen and master bedroom.

Here are a few pictures of their great work:

They're all gorgeous aren't they?

I was lucky enough to receive a vinyl quote of my own, I chose one for my two little boys bedroom:

Isn't it cute?
It took a little time and patience to put it up, but it was worth it! I used a gift card to rub the letters on the wall. That helped a lot!
